Alec Benjamin (full legal name Alec Shane Benjamin) is an American singer-songwriter and indie pop artist from Phoenix, Arizona. He rose to prominence with his 2018 single “Let Me Down Slowly,” which achieved top-40 status in over 25 countries and established him as a significant presence in contemporary pop music, accumulating nearly 13 million monthly listeners on streaming platforms.
Benjamin began his musical journey during his teenage years, releasing his first EP, America, in 2013. Following an unsuccessful partnership with Columbia Records, he independently funded a European tour and built his fanbase through grassroots promotion. His breakthrough mixtape, Narrated for You, released in November 2018, featured “Let Me Down Slowly” and catalyzed his deal with Atlantic Records. The single was later expanded through a collaboration with vocalist Alessia Cara, further broadening its reach.
His debut studio album, These Two Windows, arrived in May 2020 and peaked at number 8 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart, followed by his second album (Un)Commentary in April 2022.
