About Alex Bau
Biography / Discography
Alex Bau is a German techno DJ and producer based in Southeast Bavaria. He founded his independent label Toneman in 2000 and has released productions on respected imprints including Chris Liebing’s CLR, Montreal-based Default Recordings, and Fine Audio Recordings. He is known for blending minimal and straight techno within dynamic DJ sets that emphasize crowd engagement and controlled energy progression.
Bau served as a resident DJ at Libella, the Southeast Bavarian club where DJ Hell launched his career in the 1980s, and hosted a local radio techno show for over two years. His 2004 debut album Connected gained recognition from leading DJs across different electronic music styles, including Chris Liebing, Pascal FEOS, and Good Groove. Notable releases include the Phase Edit EP and collaborations with producer Sven Dedek on projects for Rotation, Predicaments, and PV-Records.
Throughout his career, Bau has performed internationally across Europe and North America, with multiple bookings in Montreal resulting in the 2006 mix-cd Live at Aria/Montreal. He has appeared at landmark German clubs including U60311 (Frankfurt), Electric Delicate (Munich), Airport (Würzburg), and Tresor (Berlin), as well as venues in Brazil, USA, Canada, Poland, Croatia, Serbia, the Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland. Alex Bau is available to book for clubs, festivals, and events worldwide.
