Biography / Discography
Angham (أنغام; Angham Mohamed Ali Suleiman) is an Egyptian vocalist and recording artist born in Alexandria on 19 January 1972. She specializes in Arabic pop music infused with contemporary elements including R&B, rock, and reggaeton. Beginning her professional career in 1987 under her father’s mentorship, she has established herself as one of the Middle East’s most commercially successful female artists.
Her early work included the 1987 debut Fil Rokn elBaeed elHady, followed by consistent releases through the 1990s and 2000s. The 1993 album Ella Ana achieved both critical and commercial success with standout tracks including “Telephonak Kam.” A major turning point came in 2001 with Leih Sebtaha, which featured the hit single “Sidi Wisalak” and marked her transition to full creative independence. She was officially recognized as Egypt’s Number 1 Female Artist in 2001.
Angham’s peak commercial success occurred in 2007 with her album Kolma N’arrab, which became the best-selling record by a female artist in the Middle East that year, with sales exceeding 500,000 copies in three months and earning platinum certification. Her subsequent 2009 album Nefsy Ahebak further solidified her status, featuring orchestral collaborations including the high-budget recording “Mahzouma” with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.
