About B-Real
Biography / Discography
B-Real, born Louis Mario Freese on June 2, 1970, in Los Angeles, is an American rapper of Mexican and Afro-Cuban heritage best known as one of two lead vocalists and a founding member of Cypress Hill since 1991. He is the band’s only constant member and primary voice on the group’s most recognizable tracks. B-Real’s distinctive vocal delivery and artistic vision were central to Cypress Hill’s groundbreaking debut album in 1991, which became a critical and commercial success, and their 1993 follow-up Black Sunday, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and sold over 3.4 million copies.
Beyond Cypress Hill, B-Real has pursued extensive solo and collaborative work across hip hop and related genres. His solo debut album Smoke N Mirrors arrived in 2009 featuring collaborations with Snoop Dogg and Damian Marley, followed by Tell You Somethin (2021) and Real Psycho with Psycho Les (2024). He has appeared on high-profile releases with Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Ice Cube, and served as a member of Prophets of Rage (2016-2019) and the hip hop collective Serial Killers. His stage persona also employs the alias Dr. Greenthumb, frequently referencing themes central to his artistic catalog.
