About Blasterjaxx
Biography / Discography
Blasterjaxx is a Dutch DJ and record production duo formed in 2010 in The Hague, composed of Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf. Specializing in big room house and electro house, the pair are known for their high-energy electronic dance music productions and remixes that dominated the EDM festival circuit during the 2010s.
Thom Jongkind, who previously performed as Scalix, initially formed Blasterjaxx in 2010 with producer Leon Vielvoije, though Vielvoije departed shortly thereafter. Jongkind then partnered with Idir Makhlaf, known professionally as Macosta, who officially joined to complete the duo’s core lineup. Their early releases, including the 2012 Reborn EP in collaboration with D-Rashid (signed to Laidback Luke’s Mixmash Records) and the 2013 single ‘Loud & Proud’ featuring Billy The Kit (signed to Tiësto’s Musical Freedom label), established the duo as rising forces in progressive house and electro house.
Blasterjaxx achieved significant chart success with their single ‘Faith,’ which charted in the Netherlands in 2013 and Sweden in 2014. The duo’s remix work and original productions caught the attention of major EDM artists, leading to collaborations with Tiësto, Hardwell, David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Afrojack, and others. Their production output and live presence earned them recognition in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll, where they ranked at #71 in 2013, #13 in 2014, and #19 in 2015. In 2024, the duo introduced a new techno-focused side project under the alias THOMM.
