About Che’Nelle
Biography / Discography
Che’Nelle, born Cheryline Ernestine Lim on March 10, 1983, is a Malaysian-born Australian R&B, dancehall and reggae artist. Originally from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, she relocated to Perth, Western Australia at age 10 and subsequently established her primary recording career in Japan. Discovered through MySpace, she signed with Virgin Records America in 2005 and opened for Kanye West’s Australian tour in 2006.
Her discography includes Things Happen for a Reason (2007), Feel Good (2010), and Luv Songs (2011), which reached number three on the Oricon charts and achieved platinum certification in Japan. She has released multiple subsequent albums and continues active recording, signing with Avex Trax in 2023. Beyond her solo work, Che’Nelle has contributed songwriting to other artists and performed at notable events including Fantasy on Ice with figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu in 2015.
She has earned multiple Japan Gold Disc Awards recognition and collaborated with international artists including a 2025 feature on Drax Project’s “Woke Up Late”. Available to book for festivals, corporate events and private shows.
