David Lawrence Brewster Jr., known professionally as Dave East, is an American hip-hop and rap artist from East Harlem, New York. He began his rap career in 2010, building a regional following through mixtape releases over the next four years. His eighth mixtape, Black Rose (2014), attracted significant industry attention, including from fellow New York rapper Nas, who signed East to Mass Appeal Records that same year.
