About DJ Sash!
Biography / Discography
Sash! (stylised as SASH!) is a German DJ and production team formed in 1995, fronted by Sascha Lappessen and featuring producers Ralf Kappmeier, Karl Xander, and Thomas “Alisson” Lüdke. The group pioneered multi-lingual eurodance and trance throughout the 1990s and 2000s, achieving sales of over 22 million albums worldwide and earning 65+ gold and platinum awards. Their early UK hits featured vocals sung in French, Spanish, English, and Italian, establishing a distinctive international appeal.
Following their formation, the group released debut single “It’s My Life” in 1996, which became a European club hit. Their 1997 debut album It’s My Life – The Album established Sash! as major chart contenders, with “Encore une fois,” “Ecuador,” and “Stay” all reaching No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart. The 1998 album Life Goes On continued their success with “La Primavera” (UK No. 3), “Mysterious Times” (UK No. 2), and “Move Mania” (UK No. 8). Their 2000 album Trilenium produced the hit single “Adelante,” which peaked at UK No. 2 in January 2000.
Sash! released further studio albums including S4!Sash! (2002), Life Is a Beach (2012), and Life Changes (2013). Their signature sound combines melodic synthesizers, energetic percussion, and forward-thinking production across house, eurodance, and trance idioms. Recent releases include the 2023 single “Rock My Body,” a collaboration with Dutch-Moroccan producer R3hab and Romanian vocalist Inna.
