About Foster The People
Biography / Discography
Foster the People is an American indie pop band formed in Los Angeles, California in 2009 by Mark Foster, alongside drummer Mark Pontius and bassist Cubbie Fink. The band is best known for their 2010 breakthrough single ‘Pumped Up Kicks’, a viral track that became a crossover hit, peaking at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2011 and earning three Grammy Award nominations alongside their debut album Torches.
Following the success of Torches in 2011, Foster the People released their second album Supermodel in 2014, establishing themselves as a key act in the indie pop landscape. In 2017, the band released their third studio album Sacred Hearts Club with an expanded lineup including keyboardist Isom Innis and drummer Sean Cimino as official members. The album’s single ‘Sit Next to Me’ peaked at number 42 on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved quadruple platinum certification from the RIAA.
Between 2018 and 2024, Foster the People continued to release new material, culminating in their fourth studio album Paradise State of Mind, released in August 2024 to positive reviews. The band remains active on the touring circuit and is available to book for festivals, corporate events, and private performances.
