About JP Saxe
Biography / Discography
JP Saxe (Jonathan Percy Starker Saxe) is a Canadian solo singer-songwriter born in Toronto. He is the grandson of renowned classical musician János Starker. Saxe is best known for his 2019 hit single “If the World Was Ending” (featuring Julia Michaels), which achieved significant commercial success, peaking in the top 30 on both the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100.
Saxe began his recording career in 2017-2018, releasing singles including “Changed,” “Anybody Else,” and “The Few Things.” He released his debut extended play, Both Can Be True: Part 1, in November 2018. His second EP, Hold It Together (February 2020), featured “If the World Was Ending” as the lead single and peaked at number 53 on the Canadian Albums Chart. In 2020, “If the World Was Ending” was remixed as a charity collaboration with multiple artists including Sam Smith, H.E.R., Alessia Cara, Sabrina Carpenter, and Niall Horan, with all proceeds benefiting Doctors Without Borders.
Saxe released his debut studio album, Dangerous Levels of Introspection, in June 2021, followed by his sophomore album, A Grey Area, in September 2023 via Arista Records. His song “Same Room” was shortlisted for the 2020 SOCAN Songwriting Prize, and in 2023 he co-wrote “I Don’t Miss You” with John Mayer.
