About Kai Tracid
Biography / Discography
Kai Franz, professionally known as Kai Tracid, is a German trance and acid DJ and record producer born in 1972. His stage name is a portmanteau of the electronic music styles trance and acid, reflecting his core artistic identity. Tracid rose to prominence in Germany with his debut single “Your Own Reality” and achieved worldwide recognition in 1998 with the release of “Liquid Skies”. In November 2001, he secured his first Top-10 hit on the German single charts.
Tracid’s primary album releases include Skywalker 1999 (1999), Trance & Acid (2002), and Contemplate (The Reason You Exist) (2003). Throughout his career, he has recorded under multiple production aliases including A*S*Y*S, K, Warmduscher, and Arrakis, exploring various facets of electronic and acid techno production. He took an indefinite hiatus from active music production in 2009 but returned to the scene in February 2020 with the single “DT64”, a collaboration with producer Moguai.
