About King Creosote
Biography / Discography
King Creosote is the stage name of Kenny Anderson, an independent singer-songwriter from Anstruther, Fife, Scotland. A prolific artist best known for introspective, folk-influenced songwriting, Anderson has released over forty studio albums since establishing his career in the 1990s. His music characteristically blends folk traditions with indie sensibilities, building a dedicated following through both independent releases and international festival appearances.
Anderson gained significant international recognition in 2011 with Diamond Mine, a collaborative album created with producer and composer Jon Hopkins. The album was nominated for the Mercury Prize and the Scottish Album of the Year Award, establishing his reputation well beyond Scotland. Another collaboration, Astronaut Meets Appleman, received a Scottish Album of the Year Award longlist nomination. Beyond his solo work, Anderson is also a member of the Scottish-Canadian band The Burns Unit, expanding his musical scope.
His most recent full-length album, I DES, was released in 2023, demonstrating his continued creative engagement with songwriting. Throughout his career, Anderson has maintained a resolutely independent approach to music-making, touring internationally and collaborating with varied artists.
