About Las Ketchup
Biography / Discography
Las Ketchup is a Spanish girl group formed in 2002, consisting of four sisters Lucía, Lola, Pilar, and Rocío Muñoz from Córdoba. The group emerged from a flamenco music family—their father was acclaimed flamenco musician El Tomate—and was signed by producer Manuel ‘Queco’ Ruiz to his Shaketown Music label. Las Ketchup achieved worldwide prominence with their 2002 debut single The Ketchup Song (Asereje), a flamenco-Europop fusion that topped charts across Europe, Latin America, and Asia, selling over seven million copies globally.
The group’s debut album, Hijas del Tomate (2002), sold over two million copies and won recognition as Best New Artist at the 2002 Ondas Awards. The follow-up single Kusha Las Payas achieved moderate success, while the album was later named Best Pop Album by a New Generation at the 2004 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Their second studio album, Un Blodymary (2006), featured the single of the same name, with which they represented Spain at Eurovision 2006 in Athens, finishing twenty-first.
Las Ketchup has not released new studio material since 2006, though they maintain an active live presence, performing at festivals including Melodifestivalen (2016) and Pal Norte in Monterrey, Mexico (2017). The group continues to tour and perform publicly in Spain and internationally, remaining a recognizable act in the European popular music landscape.
