About Nek
Biography / Discography
Nek, the stage name of Filippo Neviani, is an Italian pop rock singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born on January 6, 1972. Recording since the late 1980s, he built his career on melodic pop rock performed in both Italian and Spanish, becoming one of Italy’s best known solo artists across Europe and Latin America.
His breakthrough came at the 1997 Sanremo Music Festival with “Laura non c’e” (released in Spanish as “Laura no esta”), the lead single from his fourth studio album. The song became a major hit across Italy, Spain and Latin America and remains his signature track. Recording bilingual versions of his songs became a hallmark of his later releases, helping him build an audience across Spanish speaking markets.
Across a discography of thirteen studio albums and roughly forty-eight singles, Nek has accumulated worldwide sales reported at more than 10 million records. He returned to the Sanremo Festival in 2015, finishing in second place. His catalogue ranges from romantic pop ballads to up-tempo pop rock, and he continues to tour Italy, Spain and Latin America.
