About Ria Mae
Biography / Discography
Ria MacNutt, known professionally as Ria Mae, is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her music combines elements of pop and folk, establishing her as a distinctive voice in the Canadian music scene known for thoughtful songwriting and innovative production collaborations.
Mae began her professional music career in the late 2000s with the release of her EP Between the Bad in 2009. Her debut full-length album, Under Your Skin, arrived in 2011 and earned recognition with an East Coast Music Award in 2012. Building on this foundation, she continued releasing new material and gaining industry recognition.
Her breakthrough came with the single “Clothes Off,” released in 2015 as her first project with Sony Music Canada. The track was produced by Juno Award-winning hip-hop producer Classified, and its innovative fusion of genres earned a nomination for Juno Award for Single of the Year at the 2016 Juno Awards. Mae’s self-titled album, also produced by Classified, extended their successful collaboration.
