About Shena
Biography / Discography
Shèna, the stage name of Tracey Elizabeth McSween, is an English disco and house vocalist best known for providing uncredited vocals on Michael Gray’s 2004 number seven UK chart hit “The Weekend.” A classically trained session vocalist, she has become central to dance music production despite remaining largely unrecognized outside industry circles.
McSween trained at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating with diplomas in Classical, Musical Theatre, and Commercial Music Performance. She began her career performing in musical theatre productions including Mamma Mia!, Hot Stuff, and Carmen Jones before transitioning to studio recording. Her commercial breakthrough came in 1997 with “Let the Beat Hit ‘Em, Part 2,” a cover of Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam that reached the UK top 40.
Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, Shèna became a prolific session vocalist for house and EDM producers including Alex Gaudino, Full Intention, Jake Williams, and Jurgen Vries. She released four studio albums—B.I.T.C.H. (2003), One Man Woman (2009), 2079 (2010), and My Brave Face (2011)—and contributed vocals to numerous dance music tracks.
