Biography / Discography
Take That are an English pop group formed in Manchester in 1990, composed of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen. Original members also included Jason Orange and Robbie Williams. Barlow serves as lead vocalist and primary songwriter, while Donald and Orange contributed as dancers. The band’s evolution from hi-NRG dance toward adult contemporary balladry established their broad commercial appeal across multiple demographic segments.
The group achieved unprecedented commercial success with 28 UK top-40 singles, including 12 number ones, and 9 number-one albums on the UK Albums Chart. Internationally, they amassed 56 number-one singles and 42 number-one albums. They won eight Brit Awards and received the 2012 Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music, with sales exceeding 14.4 million albums and 14.6 million singles certified in the UK alone.
