About Talla 2XLC
Biography / Discography
Talla 2XLC, born Andreas Tomalla on March 13, 1963 in Frankfurt am Main, is a German DJ and record producer regarded as one of the founding figures of the German techno and trance scenes. Working at Frankfurt’s City-Music record store in the early 1980s, he is credited with helping popularize the term “techno” for the emerging electronic genre, and in 1984 he founded the long-running Technoclub event series, which became a driving force behind Frankfurt’s club culture and the international trance movement.
In the 1980s he produced music under project names including Axodry, Two of China, Moskwa TV and Bigod 20, before stepping back from DJing between 1992 and 1995 to focus on label management and artist development through the labels he founded, Future Dance Association and Music Research (with sublabels Techno Drome International, New Zone and Zoth Ommog). He returned to DJing at international raves in the mid-1990s and served as resident DJ at Frankfurt’s Dorian Gray club until 2000, becoming one of Germany’s most-booked club DJs. Since the 2000s he has also worked as a remixer for trance acts such as Rank 1 and Darude, and has released roughly 60 singles and around 270 remixes over his career.
Talla 2XLC continues to host the monthly Technoclub radio show on Sunshine Live and remains active as a touring DJ, honored in 2010 with Frankfurt’s Honor Plaque for representing the city’s music scene internationally. He is available to book for club nights, festivals and private events.
