About The Little Ones
Biography / Discography
The Little Ones is an indie pop band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2006 by former members of the indie rock act Sunday’s Best (Ed Reyes and Ian Moreno). The band crafts infectious pop songs characterized by tambourines, handclaps, and intricate vocal harmonies, drawing musical inspiration from 1960s pop acts like The Beach Boys and The Zombies while incorporating modern indie sensibilities comparable to contemporary artists like The Shins.
The Little Ones signed to Astralwerks Records in their early years, releasing the Sing Song EP in 2007. That same year they supported Kaiser Chiefs on a UK arena tour alongside We Are Scientists and were invited by Matt Costa to open at New York’s Bowery Ballroom, significantly raising their profile. After losing their recording contract in 2008, they released the EP Terry Tales & Fallen Gates independently through their own Branches Recording Collective label.
Their debut studio album, Morning Tide, was released July 28, 2008 on UK label Heavenly Recordings. Though it received mixed critical reception (60/100 on Metacritic), the album and subsequent singles like ‘Oh, MJ!’ (featured by KEXP radio as song of the day) and ‘Lovers Who Uncover’ (praised by NPR for their ‘foot-tapping, hand-clapping pop songs’) built a dedicated following. The band returned with their second album, The Dawn Sang Along, released February 8, 2013.
