About Tunng
Biography / Discography
Tunng are an English folk band from London formed in 2003. The band blends traditional folk songwriting with electronic production and is noted for their innovative use of unconventional instruments including seashells and percussive electronic samples, establishing a distinctive sound within the folktronica genre. The ensemble features founding members Sam Genders and Mike Lindsay alongside core members Ashley Bates, Phil Winter, Becky Jacobs, and Martin Smith.
Since their formation, Tunng have released eight studio albums: Mother’s Daughter and Other Songs (2005), Comments of the Inner Chorus (2006), Good Arrows (2007), …And Then We Saw Land (2010), Turbines (2013), Songs You Make at Night (2018), Dead Club (2020), and Love You All Over Again (2025). The band’s music has been featured in television programming and they have performed at major UK festivals including Glastonbury, Wood Festival, and Truck Festival. In 2009, Tunng collaborated with Tinariwen, the acclaimed Tuareg blues ensemble, for a UK tour and joint festival performances.
