About U.S. Girls
Biography / Discography
U.S. Girls is a Toronto-based experimental pop project formed in 2007, led solely by American musician and record producer Meghan Remy. The project is known for its distinctive blend of psychedelic pop, hypnagogic production, and lo-fi aesthetics, creating intricate and unconventional pop compositions that defy genre conventions.
Before establishing herself on the international stage, Remy released music across various independent record labels throughout the 2000s, eventually securing a recording contract with the British label 4AD in 2015. Her debut album for the label, Half Free (2015), earned a Juno Award nomination for Alternative Album of the Year and achieved shortlist status for the 2016 Polaris Music Prize. Her subsequent albums—In a Poem Unlimited (2018) and Heavy Light (2020)—continued to garner critical recognition and similar award nominations, establishing U.S. Girls as a significant figure in contemporary experimental pop.
In both studio and live work, Remy frequently collaborates with Toronto-based musicians on songwriting and production, bringing an experimental and evolving approach to recorded and performed work. U.S. Girls is available for bookings at festivals, venues, and special events.
