About Vaal
Biography / Discography
Vaal is the electronic DJ moniker of English performer Eliot Sumner (born Eliot Paulina Sumner), who is also known for earlier solo work under the name I Blame Coco. Based in the United Kingdom, Vaal focuses on electronic and dance-club sets, distinct from Sumner’s guitar-based singer-songwriter output. As Vaal, Sumner has played sets in European dance clubs, building a separate identity within house and techno-adjacent electronic circles.
Sumner’s broader music career began as I Blame Coco, signing to Island Records as a teenager and releasing the debut album The Constant in 2010, a mix of pop, electronic, ska and punk influences. From 2014 onward, Sumner released material under their own name, including the EP Information (2014) and the full-length album Information (2016). The Vaal project runs alongside this catalog, with music distributed through outlets including Apple Music, SoundCloud and Deezer.
