About Bacilos
Biography / Discography
Bacilos is a Latin pop duo formed in Miami in 1995, consisting of Jorge Villamizar and André Lopes. The name combines a reference to bacilli, a home remedy from Villamizar’s family background, with the Spanish term “vaciló
n,” meaning celebration. Although based in the United States, the group has established itself primarily as a Latin American act, achieving substantial success throughout the region.
The duo has released seven studio albums and two EPs since their formation. Their 2002 album Caraluna won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album, with the title track becoming a signature hit. The 2004 follow-up Sin Vergüenza earned a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album in 2005. Key singles including “Mi Primer Milló
n” expanded their commercial reach across Latin America.
