About BRÍET
Biography / Discography
BRÍET (Briet Ísis Elfar, born 22 March 1999) is an Icelandic singer and songwriter known for blending Scandinavian pop with country music influences. Based in Reykjavik, she has emerged as a notable figure in Iceland’s contemporary music scene with her distinctive lyrical approach and genre-blending compositions.
BRÍET began performing at age 15, with off-venue concerts during Iceland Airwaves and performances at jazz bars. Her first single, “In Too Deep”, released in 2018, was followed by the EP 22.03.99. She collaborates regularly with producer Pálmi Ragnar Ásgeirsson of the production team StopWaitGo, performing in both Icelandic and English. Her 2020 debut album Kveðja, Briet showcased her songwriting talent through songs such as “Esjan”, “Feimin(n)”, and “Rólegur kúreki”, centering lyrically on themes of romantic break-ups and personal transformation.
The album achieved significant recognition, earning the award for album of the year at the 2021 Icelandic Music Awards and becoming Rás 2’s Album of the Week. Eight tracks from Kveðja, Briet reached Spotify’s Top 10 chart for Iceland. BRÍET is available to book for festivals, corporate events, and private shows.
