About Electric Guest
Biography / Discography
Electric Guest is a Los Angeles-based indie pop band formed in 2011, comprised of Asa Taccone (vocals, instrumentals) and Matthew “Cornbread” Compton (drums). Luke Top and Reese Richardson join the band for touring engagements on bass and keyboards/guitar respectively. Known for their distinctive blend of soulful, funked-up pop with Motown sensibilities and 1970s–80s retro influences, the band gained early recognition through television performances on Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Conan.
The band released their debut album Mondo in April 2012, featuring the hit single “This Head I Hold.” Rolling Stone described the album as a “Beck-ian journey into L.A. slacker soul, full of hooky neon jams.” They followed with Plural in February 2017 and Kin in October 2019. In 2012, they were featured on MTV’s Artists to Watch list, and in early 2013, NME named them Radar Band of the Week.
Electric Guest has developed a robust live presence, performing at major festivals including SXSW, Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Splendour in the Grass, and Leeds Festival, as well as international venues across Europe.
