About Karnivool
Biography / Discography
Karnivool is an Australian progressive rock band formed in Perth, Western Australia in 1998. The group’s current lineup has remained stable since 2004, consisting of Ian Kenny on lead vocals, Drew Goddard and Mark Hosking on guitars, Jon Stockman on bass, and Steve Judd on drums. The band is known for their technically complex compositions that blend progressive rock with alternative metal influences, drawing inspiration from acts such as Tool and Deftones. Their sound features intricate time signatures, layered guitars, and soaring harmonized vocals.
The band has released four studio albums: Themata (2005), Sound Awake (2009), Asymmetry (2013), and In Verses (2026). Sound Awake achieved significant commercial success, debuting at number two on the ARIA Album Charts in 2009 and receiving Gold certification in Australia. Asymmetry, released in 2013, debuted at number one on the ARIA Chart and earned the band their first ARIA Award. The 2021 single “All It Takes” marked their return after an eight-year gap between studio albums.
Karnivool has built a substantial international following through extensive touring across North America, Europe, and notably India, where their 2010 debut performance drew 10,000 attendees, setting a record as the band’s largest show to date.
