About Lighthouse Family
Biography / Discography
Lighthouse Family are a British pop soul duo formed in 1993 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, by singer Tunde Baiyewu and songwriter Paul Tucker. The pair met while studying at university and working in the same bar, where they developed Tucker’s original compositions into professional demos. Their 1995 debut album Ocean Drive achieved major commercial success across Europe, selling over 1.8 million copies in the UK and earning six-times platinum certification. The album established them as prominent figures in easy listening pop, with their best-known single ‘High’ reaching number four on the UK Singles Chart and topping the Australian charts.
Lighthouse Family maintained their commercial success with their 1997 second album Postcards from Heaven, followed by Whatever Gets You Through the Day in 2001. The duo scaled down their touring schedule in early 2003, with both members pursuing separate projects during an extended hiatus; Baiyewu developed a solo career while Tucker joined the rock band The Orange Lights. In November 2010, the band reunited for a full UK and Ireland tour in February–March 2011, marking their first performance in eight years. The successful reunion led to new recording, culminating in Blue Sky in Your Head, released in July 2019 and their first album in 18 years. The album was supported by multiple sell-out UK tours.
