About Rae Sremmurd
Biography / Discography
Rae Sremmurd (pronounced “Ray Shrem-urd,” meaning “Ear Drummers” spelled backwards) is an American hip-hop duo composed of brothers Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi, both from Tupelo, Mississippi. The group signed with Mike Will Made It’s EarDrummers Records imprint in 2013 as the label’s first act, and rose to mainstream prominence following triple-platinum singles “No Flex Zone,” “No Type,” and “Throw Sum Mo” (featuring Nicki Minaj and Young Thug) in 2014.
Their debut studio album SremmLife (2015) achieved double platinum certification. The duo reached their commercial peak with the single “Black Beatles” (featuring Gucci Mane) in 2016, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and led to their second album SremmLife 2. In 2016 they formed their own record label, SremmLife Crew Records. Their third album SR3MM (2018) was released as a triple album project and peaked at number six on the Billboard 200, while their fourth album Sremm 4 Life (2023) peaked at number 28.
Swae Lee subsequently pursued solo work, including the 2018 hit “Sunflower” with Post Malone. Rae Sremmurd remains available for festival appearances, live performances, and special events.
