Tzancă Uraganu, born Andrei Velcu on 30 November 1990 in Ploiești, is a Romanian manele singer of Romani descent. Known by stage names Tzancă Uraganul and Tzancă de la Ploiești, he is recognized for blending traditional manele with contemporary trap and dance-pop production. His breakthrough came in 2012 with the single Dale Dale following several years performing in Florin Salam’s band.
After adopting the stage name Tzancă Uraganul in 2014—a nickname given by Nicolae Guță meaning “the hurricane of music”—his career gained significant momentum through his partnership with producer Nek Music. Velcu’s musical style draws from fiddle and 1990s-2000s manele traditions while incorporating modern trap elements. In March 2022, he achieved the top position on the Billboard Romanian music chart with the song Take Me Off the Block, demonstrating the broad appeal of his genre-blending approach.
