About Violet Skies
Biography / Discography
Violet Skies is the stage name of Hannah Berney, a Welsh singer-songwriter known for synth-pop music that blends electronic production with classical instrumentation and soulful vocals. Her work draws on influences ranging from trip-hop to art pop.
Skies released her debut single “How the Mighty” in 2013, which was recognized by WalesOnline as a standout Welsh pop record of that year. She released her debut EP Dragons in 2014 and performed at Glastonbury Festival’s BBC Introducing Stage. Subsequent releases included the EP I’ll Buy a House in 2019 and the EP Lonely in 2020, which featured five tracks including “Nothing at Night” and “Born On Valentine’s Day”.
Skies gained significant commercial recognition through songwriting collaborations, co-writing “God Is a Dancer” with British singer Mabel and Dutch DJ Tiësto—a track that reached number 15 on the UK charts and spent eight weeks in the Top 40.
