Bucks Fizz are a British pop group formed in London in January 1981 specifically to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest. The original lineup comprised four vocalists: Bobby G, Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan, and Jay Aston. The ensemble became one of the most successful pop acts of the 1980s, achieving widespread commercial success in the United Kingdom with their energetic pop sound and distinctive dance choreography.
The group’s defining moment came with their Eurovision victory in 1981, winning the contest with their debut single “Making Your Mind Up,” which topped charts internationally. This success launched them into the mainstream, and throughout the early-to-mid 1980s, Bucks Fizz secured three number-one singles on the UK charts and multiple Top 10 hits, becoming one of the top-selling groups of the era in Britain.
