About Dymytry
Biography / Discography
Dymytry, also billed as Dymytry Paradox for its English-language releases, is a Czech metal band formed in Prague in 2003 by Jiri “Dymo” Urban. The group performs in insect-themed masks and describes its sound as psy-core, a style blending heavy metal, nu metal, alternative metal and groove metal. The band is one of the most commercially prominent metal acts in the Czech Republic.
Dymytry’s catalog spans ten studio albums, including three recorded in English for international audiences, alongside eight EPs (three of them collaborative splits with the band Hamatom), four live albums and two compilation releases. The band placed sixth in the 2017 Cesky slavik poll and finished second in the Zebrik Music Awards the same year, reflecting sustained domestic chart and award recognition.
The band’s lineup has evolved over two decades: Jan Macku fronted Dymytry from 2005 to 2023 before later performing under the stage name Protheus, with Vaclav “Noid” Barta subsequently taking over as vocalist. Founding member Jiri Urban has remained the band’s constant creative anchor throughout its history. Dymytry is available to book for festivals, corporate events and private shows.
