About Kelly Marie
Biography / Discography
Kelly Marie, born Jacqueline McKinnon on 16 October 1957, is a Scottish disco and dance singer. She is best known for her 1980 UK No. 1 single “Feels Like I’m in Love”, a landmark disco track that became an international hit and established her as a prominent figure in the dance music scene.
Marie began her performing career in childhood, making her television debut at age fifteen and appearing on the talent show Opportunity Knocks as Keli Brown at sixteen. Her early singles, including “Who’s That Lady with My Man” (1976) and “Make Love to Me” (1978), achieved success across European and Commonwealth markets, establishing her credibility in pop and dance music.
“Feels Like I’m in Love” became a phenomenon on dance floors across Britain before its 1980 re-release took it to No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, where it spent two consecutive weeks at the top. The track achieved significant international success, reaching the top ten in Austria, Belgium, Germany and Australia, and No. 10 on the U.S. Dance chart. Though subsequent mainstream releases did not match this commercial peak, Marie remained a consistent presence on the international club and dance music scene throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
Marie continued to record and perform dance music through the 2000s, releasing remixed versions of her catalogue and cover recordings. She collaborated with fellow disco artist Tina Charles on versions of “To Sir with Love” and “Your Disco Needs You” in 2002.
