About Lasgo
Biography / Discography
Lasgo is a Belgian eurodance and electronic music group formed in 2000 by producers Peter Luts and Dave McCullen alongside vocalist Evi Goffin. The group’s name originated from McCullen’s suggestion to reference Glasgow in Scotland, combined with Luts’ initials. Specializing in vocal trance and eurodance, they achieved international success with early releases that blended electronic production with dance-oriented vocals.
Their debut album Some Things (2001) established Lasgo as a major force in dance music. The single ‘Something’ won the TMF Awards in 2001 and achieved gold certification in Germany. ‘Alone,’ released that same year, became their signature track, reaching number 7 in the UK and number 3 in Belgium. The album peaked at number 30 on the UK Albums Chart, with additional singles including ‘Pray’ and a successful US release. Throughout 2002 and 2003, Lasgo received numerous accolades, including a Smash Hits award for Best Dance Act of the Year and recognition at major industry events like the Winter Music Conference and MIDEM.
Following Evi Goffin’s departure in 2008, Lasgo conducted a televised vocalist search that selected Jelle Van Dael as the new lead singer. Under this lineup, the group continued releasing music with albums including Smile (2009) and subsequent chart entries. In 2023, Van Dael departed to pursue a solo career. Peter Luts subsequently recruited Dutch vocalist Nikki Born as the group’s frontwoman in 2024, marking a new chapter for the enduring project. Lasgo remains active on the international dance music circuit.
