About Marmalade
Biography / Discography
Marmalade is a Scottish pop rock band from Glasgow, originally formed in 1961 as the Gaylords and formally renamed Marmalade in 1966. The group achieved peak commercial success between 1968 and 1972, becoming the first Scottish artist to top the UK Singles Chart with a 1969 hit. Their international breakthrough came in 1970 with “Reflections of My Life,” which reached number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
The band recorded with major labels including Columbia Records, CBS Records, and Decca Records throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, placing ten songs on the UK Singles Chart during their most successful period. After departing from Decca in 1972, the group rejoined EMI in 1973. Founding member Graham Knight performed with the band continuously until 2010, providing stability through numerous lineup changes across five decades.
While no original members remain in the current lineup, Marmalade continues to perform actively. Vocalist Sandy Newman has been with the band since 1975 and continues touring, bringing their classic pop rock catalogue to contemporary audiences.
