About Patricia Kaas
Biography / Discography
Patricia Noëlle Kaas is a French solo vocalist born in Forbach, Lorraine, in 1966. She performs a sophisticated blend of pop, jazz, chanson, and cabaret, genres forming the backbone of French vocal tradition while incorporating contemporary musical influences. Kaas is best known for her dramatic contralto voice, theatrical stage presence, and album sales exceeding 20 million copies worldwide.
Her professional music career began in 1987 following sponsorship from actor Gérard Depardieu. Her debut album Mademoiselle chante… (1988) achieved platinum status across Europe, followed by Scène de vie (1990), which topped French charts for ten weeks. Her third album, Je te dis vous (1993), became her definitive international breakthrough, selling 3 million copies in 47 countries and establishing her as a major touring artist across Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, Russia, Finland, Ukraine, and South Korea.
Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Kaas released numerous albums including Dans ma chair (1997), Le mot de passe (1999), Piano Bar (2002), and Kabaret (2008). She won six Victoires de la Musique awards and received the First Class Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2003 for her cultural contributions. Her extensive collaborations with French songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman proved particularly significant to her artistic development. Kaas represented France in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, finishing in eighth place.
She remains active on the international circuit, having performed in over 25 countries on her seventh world tour, completing more than 500,000 concert attendance figures. Patricia Kaas is available for festivals, corporate events, private shows, and international tour bookings.
