Biography / Discography
Smokie is an English rock band formed in Bradford in 1965 under their original spelling “Smokey”. The group achieved international prominence in the 1970s as practitioners of radio-friendly soft rock. Their signature hit “Living Next Door to Alice” reached No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart in 1977, topped the Australian charts, and reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100, establishing their commercial peak.
After partnering with producer Mike Chapman and songwriter Nicky Chinn, Smokie released multiple charting singles that expanded their footprint across Europe and North America.
