About The Orielles
Biography / Discography
The Orielles are an English indie rock band from Halifax, West Yorkshire, formed in 2013. The three-piece features Sidonie “Sid” B. Hand-Halford on drums, Esm é Dee Hand-Halford on bass and vocals, and Henry Carlyle Wade on guitar and vocals. The band revitalizes the baggy indie aesthetic of the early 1990s with contemporary electronic and psychedelic textures, creating an experimental sound that blends indie dance, dream pop, and electronic exotica.
The band signed to Heavenly Records and released their debut album Silver Dollar Moment in February 2018. Critics praised the album for updating classic baggy indie with a modern production sensibility. Their 2020 follow-up Disco Volador, produced by Marta Sologni, marked a shift toward more unconventional song structures and experimental production, incorporating elements of disco funk, electronic textures, and retro highlife influences. The album earned a 73 on Metacritic and established the band as innovative voices in contemporary indie rock.
The Orielles continued their experimental trajectory with the double album Tableau in October 2022, self-produced in collaboration with Joel Anthony Patchett. In March 2026, they released their fourth studio album Only You Left on Heavenly Records, further refining their distinctive fusion of indie rock and electronic production.
