Biography / Discography
Five (stylised 5ive) is a British pop boy band from London, formed in 1997 by Heart Management. The group originally consisted of Abz Love, Scott Robinson, Ritchie Neville, Sean Conlon, and Jason “J” Brown. Signed by Simon Cowell to BMG/RCA, Five became one of the most successful boy bands of the late 1990s and early 2000s, known for their blend of pop, hip-hop, and R&B.
Five achieved immediate success with their November 1997 debut single “Slam Dunk (Da Funk)” (UK #10) and international breakthrough with “When the Lights Go Out” (US Billboard Hot 100 #10, UK #4). Their 1998 debut album sold over 4 million copies worldwide, spawning three additional UK top-3 singles: “Got the Feelin’”, “Everybody Get Up”, and “Until the Time Is Through”. The 1999 album Invincible achieved over 1 million worldwide sales, featuring the number-2 UK hit “If Ya Gettin’ Down” and the chart-topping “Keep On Movin’”, their best-selling single. The band’s third album, Kingsize (2001), preceded their split announcement in September 2001 and the release of Greatest Hits.
