About Charly Lownoise
Biography / Discography
Charly Lownoise is the stage name of Ramon Roelofs, a Dutch DJ and happy hardcore pioneer born June 17, 1968 in The Hague. After exploring disco and Italian music in his teenage years, Roelofs embraced house music as his primary influence. In 1992, he partnered with producer Mental Theo, forming one of happy hardcore’s most successful acts.
Throughout the 1990s, Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo dominated the European electronic dance music scene with euphoric, melody-driven tracks including Wonderful Days, Stars, Together in Wonderland, Hardcore Feelings and Fantasy World. The duo became global ambassadors for the happy hardcore sound, with their infectious energy and accessible hooks defining the genre for millions of listeners worldwide.
As the decade progressed, Roelofs expanded his artistic scope. In the late 1990s, he collaborated with producers Frank and Marcel on hardstyle and trance-influenced material under the project name Deepack. He also participated in major compilation series including Bitte ein Beat! in the Netherlands and Starsplash in Germany. Available to book for festivals, corporate events and private shows.
