About Daughtry
Biography / Discography
Daughtry is an American rock band formed in 2006 and fronted by vocalist Chris Daughtry, a finalist on the fifth season of American Idol. Based in the United States, the group plays a style of rock blending alternative rock, hard rock and post-grunge influences, and is best known for its multi-platinum self-titled debut album and a run of top 40 rock radio hits throughout the late 2000s and 2010s.
The band’s self-titled debut album, released in November 2006, reached number one on the Billboard 200 and became the fastest-selling debut rock album in Nielsen SoundScan history at the time, later recognized as Billboard’s best-selling album of 2007. It produced four top 20 Hot 100 singles, including the chart-topping rock anthems “It’s Not Over” and “Home,” and has sold more than six million copies in the United States, earning six-times platinum certification.
Daughtry followed with Leave This Town (2009), which also debuted at number one and spawned the top 20 single “No Surprise,” and Break the Spell (2011), certified Gold.
