About Glass Animals
Biography / Discography
Glass Animals are an English indie rock band formed in Oxford in 2010. The lineup consists of Dave Bayley (vocals, guitar, keyboards, drums, songwriting), Drew MacFarlane (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Edmund Irwin-Singer (bass, keyboards, backing vocals), and Joe Seaward (drums). All four members met at St Edward’s School in Oxford.
The band’s debut album Zaba, released in 2014, spawned the hit single “Gooey” and achieved platinum certification in the U.S. Their second album, How to Be a Human Being (2016), received critical acclaim and earned nominations at the Mercury Prize and awards at the 2018 MPG Awards. The third studio album, Dreamland (2020), peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart and number seven on the US Billboard 200. Their most recent album, I Love You So F***ing Much, was released in July 2024.
Glass Animals achieved mainstream success with the single “Heat Waves,” which became a global phenomenon after going viral on TikTok during the COVID-19 pandemic. The song topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in March 2022, reached number one in Australia, and surpassed two billion Spotify streams.
