About IMT Smile
Biography / Discography
IMT Smile is a Slovak pop-rock band formed in 1992 by brothers Ivan and Miro Tásler from Prešov. The band’s name derives from the initials of the two founders. The group emerged during the early 1990s with musical and visual art experimentation, initially collaborating with poet and songwriter Ľubomír Feldek, whose lyrics appeared on early recordings.
The band achieved commercial breakthrough with their second album, Valec (1998), which earned Gold certification in Slovakia. Major releases include their self-titled album (2003), which won two Aurel Awards, and Exotica (2004). The Tásler brothers relocated to Bratislava in the early 2000s, where Ivan Tásler pursued solo projects while remaining central to the band. Through the 2010s and 2020s, IMT Smile continued releasing new studio albums, reaching 14 releases by 2026, including Rodina (2012), Budeme to stále my (2018), Srdce rozum blvd (2021), and Exoticana (2024).
IMT Smile has received extensive recognition throughout its career, winning three ZAI Awards, two Silver Slávik Awards, two Aurel Awards, three OTO Awards, and a Crystal Wing Award. The band has maintained an active touring schedule across Slovakia and neighboring European regions, establishing themselves as one of Slovakia’s most prominent rock acts.
