About Corona
Biography / Discography
Corona is an Italian Eurodance project formed in 1993 by Brazilian vocalist and model Olga Maria de Souza and producer Francesco “Checco” Bontempi, also known as Lee Marrow. The group achieved international commercial success with the worldwide hits “The Rhythm of the Night” (1993) and “Baby Baby” (1995), which became defining tracks of 1990s Eurodance and reached top positions across Europe and North America.
Throughout its career, Corona has featured multiple vocalists. While Olga de Souza became the recognizable face and visual identity of the project, the original recordings featured vocalist Jenny B (Giovanna Bersola). The group’s second album, Walking on Music (1998), showcased Welsh singer Sandy Chambers, and subsequent releases included contributions from vocalists including Brandy Jones and Bambi Jones. Following Francesco Bontempi’s departure, producers Francesco Conte and Paolo Dughero joined the project.
Olga de Souza first recorded lead vocals herself in 2005 with the single “Back in Time,” followed by “I’ll Be Your Lady” (2006). Corona released the album Y Generation in 2010, which reached number one on the Italian iTunes dance album chart. The group’s discography spans four studio albums and numerous singles released internationally. In February 2024, Corona competed in Una voce per San Marino 2024, the Sammarinese national selection for Eurovision.
