About Kazka
Biography / Discography
Kazka is a three-piece Ukrainian experimental pop band formed in Kyiv on March 1, 2017. The name means ‘fairy tale’ in Ukrainian. Fronted by vocalist Oleksandra Zaritska with keyboardist and guitarist Nikita Budash and wind instrumentalist Dmytro Mazuriak (who joined in 2018), the band blends experimental pop, electropop, and traditional Ukrainian folk elements.
The band achieved rapid international success following their 2017 X-Factor appearance. Their breakthrough single ‘Plakala’ (2018) became a global phenomenon, entering the Shazam Global Top 10 and becoming the first Ukrainian-language music video to surpass 200 million YouTube views, eventually accumulating over 411 million. The track earned them ‘Hit of the Year’ recognition across multiple territories including Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, and Kazakhstan.
Kazka has released three studio albums: Karma (2018), Nirvana (2019), and Svit (2021). The band competed in the Ukrainian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018 and 2019, finishing third in the 2019 final.
