About Special D.
Biography / Discography
Special D. (stage name of Dennis Horstmann) is a German electronic dance music producer and DJ born in Hamburg on September 16, 1980. His career in Eurodance and dance music gained particular prominence in the mid-2000s, achieving significant chart success across multiple continents, particularly in the Netherlands and United Kingdom.
His breakthrough track “Come with Me” became his signature piece, reaching number 6 on the UK Singles Chart and number 4 on the Irish Singles Chart in April 2004. This success established him within the international Eurodance scene, where he also gained popularity in North America. Following this momentum, he released additional tracks including “You” and “Here I Am”, which became staples on European dance floors. His production has also featured in film soundtracks, including the action film Crank: High Voltage.
Special D. continues to evolve his technical approach to live performance, incorporating Ableton Live into his DJ sets. He was recognized with the Best Dance International award at the 2004 TMF NL awards, reflecting his significant impact on the Dutch electronic music scene.
