About Tania Evans
Biography / Discography
Tania Evans is a British singer and songwriter born in London on 28 May 1967. She rose to prominence as the lead vocalist of Culture Beat, a German Eurodance group, joining in 1993 and remaining with the project until 1997. During her tenure, Evans became the voice of the group’s most successful single, ‘Mr. Vain’ (1994), which reached No. 1 in 13 countries and established Culture Beat as a major force in European dance music. She performed vocals on numerous other Culture Beat tracks including ‘Got to Get It’, ‘Anything’, ‘World in Your Hands’, ‘Inside Out’, and ‘Crying in the Rain’, which she co-wrote.
Following her departure from Culture Beat in 1997, Evans pursued a solo career in electronic and house music. Her solo single ‘Prisoner of Love’ (1997), co-composed with Peter Ries, reached the top 10 on the U.S. Billboard Club Dance chart and charted at No. 75 in Germany. She contributed vocals to Kosmonova’s 1998 single ‘Singing in My Mind’, which reached No. 78 in Germany. In 2003, she released the house-styled single ‘Strength to Carry On’ on Dos or Die Recordings, demonstrating her continued work in the dance and club music sphere.
