About Thirty Seconds To Mars
Biography / Discography
Thirty Seconds to Mars, also stylized as 30 Seconds to Mars, is an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1998. The group is built around brothers Jared Leto, who handles lead vocals, guitar, bass and keyboards, and Shannon Leto on drums and percussion, with the lineup having included additional touring and recording musicians such as guitarist Tomo Miličević over the years. The band is known for blending alternative rock with electronic, pop rock and cinematic, philosophically themed material, and for high-energy live shows.
The band released its self-titled debut album in 2002, followed by A Beautiful Lie in 2005, which brought the group international recognition. This Is War followed in 2009, incorporating more experimental and electronic production. After a widely publicized contract dispute with EMI, chronicled in the documentary film Artifact, the band signed with Universal Music Group and released Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams in 2013, followed by America in 2018 and It’s the End of the World but It’s a Beautiful Day in 2023.
