About Twenty 4 Seven
Biography / Discography
Twenty 4 Seven is a Dutch Eurodance group formed in 1989 by producer Ruud van Rijen in Valkenswaard, Netherlands. The project featured rotating lineups of singers and rappers, beginning with vocalist Nancy Coolen and rapper Ricardo Overman. The distinctive sound of male rap vocals layered with female singing choruses became the group’s signature across their most successful period.
The group’s breakthrough came with the 1989 single ‘I Can’t Stand It’, which reached No. 7 in the United Kingdom and No. 3 in Israel. Their 1990 debut album Street Moves was followed by a series of chart hits including ‘Are You Dreaming?’, ‘Slave to the Music’, ‘Is It Love’, and ‘Take Me Away’, establishing them as one of Europe’s prominent Eurodance acts throughout the early to mid-1990s. After several lineup changes and declining chart performance, the group became inactive in 1999.
Twenty 4 Seven was revived in 2007 with new material and has continued performing intermittently since, with various configurations of returning original members and new vocalists. The group remains active in the European dance music circuit and is available to book for live performances and special events.
