About Gus Gus
Biography / Discography
GusGus is an Icelandic electronic music group formed in Reykjavík in 1995. Initially established as a film and acting collective, the band—sometimes credited as “Gus Gus” or “gusgus”—evolved into one of Iceland’s most influential electronic acts. The group’s distinctive sonic palette blends house, techno, and trip hop with experimental production techniques, creating a sound that defied easy categorization.
Throughout the late 1990s and 2000s, GusGus built a prolific discography comprising twelve studio albums. The group gained international recognition through notable productions and remixes, including their 1998 contribution to DJ Paul Oakenfold’s Tranceport compilation and a 2004 collaboration with Ian Brown on the track “Desire.” By 2011, GusGus had sold over 700,000 albums worldwide. The band also established a parallel film production company, which later became known as Arni & Kinski, reflecting their multimedia roots.
GusGus continues to record and perform, with recent releases including the 2025 EP “New Arrivals” and a series of singles released between 2020 and 2023. As of 2015, the core ensemble comprised four members: President Bongo, Biggi Veira, Urður Hákonardóttir, and Danîel Ágúst Haraldsson. The band remains active in electronic music and available to book for festivals, corporate events, and live performances.
